Coffee with Mom

Today is one of those mornings that I can’t get my Mom off my mind. It occurred to me that we never ever sat down over a cup of coffee and just talked.

I saved her coffee cups when she passed away. For some reason I feel close to her when I have my morning coffee in them. But like I said, we never sat down together for just coffee.

If I could go back and redo those last years, we’d have coffee every day. We’d talk about everything from the latest hair styles to politics. My Mom was very with it regarding trends.

I miss her and it never gets easier. Wish I could tell you it does, but it doesn’t. The missing just changes stages.

So this morning I will sit here at the very counter she used to eat breakfast, drink my coffee from her mug, and hope that somehow she knows.
